Read switches
are magnetically actuated switches. They consist of two contact reads housed in
a glass tube filled with inert gas. When the magnet (object) enters to the
magnetic field, the reads are closed and out an electrical signal. The opening
of read contacts achieved by pre-stressing the contact reads. Considerably
stronger switching magnets overcome this initial stress. These switches have
some advantages such as the long service life, no any maintenance etc and there
are some disadvantages as limited response sensitivity and the unsuitableness
for areas with strong magnetic fields.
